Education is at the heart of Seeds of Hope Tanzania. From early childhood through primary school and beyond, we support children as they build a foundation for learning, growth, and a brighter future.

This was the original school building where children learned when Seeds of Hope Tanzania first arrived—small in size, but full of hope.

At the heart of that first classroom were dedicated teachers and eager students—relationships that continue to shape the growth of our school community today.

Today, that small beginning has grown into St. Rose of Lima Academy—a place where children are nourished, supported, and given the opportunity to learn and thrive.
St. Rose of Lima Academy began with a single classroom built through the determination of a village and the support of the Seeds of Hope Tanzania community. From those humble beginnings, the school has grown into a registered Pre-Primary School and Kindergarten serving more than 100 children.
Today, the campus includes four classrooms, five dedicated teachers, an office, a small library, and large bathroom facilities. In Tanzania, early childhood education is a three-year program that includes nursery, preschool, and kindergarten, and St. Rose provides a strong foundation during these critical early years.
Daily meals are a vital part of learning. By law, every full-time school must have a kitchen, and for many children at St. Rose, school meals are their only food of the day. We are deeply grateful to Therese Bodenstein for generously funding the school kitchen and storage area.
As the school expanded, a small convent was built to welcome the Little Sisters of St. Francis, who now help run the school. Electricity and a completed well have further strengthened the learning environment. The first classrooms were made possible through the extraordinary service-learning efforts of Eastport Elementary School’s third-grade students, families, and teachers, whose compassion helped raise a school that continues to grow today.

After completing their early childhood education at St. Rose of Lima Academy, students take an important next step in their educational journey by moving on to primary school. Through a valued partnership with Nariva Academy, our children continue their learning in a supportive and structured environment.
Nariva Academy is an English-medium boarding school where students receive excellent care, consistent meals, and a strong academic foundation. School fees are $500 per year per student, and we are deeply grateful to the sponsors whose monthly support makes this opportunity possible.
In January 2025, we transported 25 primary-age students to Nariva Academy. The journey itself was unforgettable — traveling through Arusha National Park, many of the children saw giraffes for the very first time. It was a joyful day filled with excitement, wonder, and hope for what lies ahead.
We are deeply grateful for our Seeds of Hope Tanzania liaison, Furaha Mangwangi, whose dedication helps ensure that our students are supported every step of their educational journey.
Furaha works closely with Nariva Academy and helps oversee nearly 150 students, making sure they are receiving a quality education and that their individual needs are met. She regularly conducts home visits, partners with families, and serves as a vital connection between the children, schools, and Seeds of Hope Tanzania.
Recently, Furaha was honored by Nariva Academy for her outstanding commitment to our students. We are incredibly thankful for her leadership, compassion, and tireless advocacy — this work would not be possible without her.

Every child supported by Seeds of Hope Tanzania carries a unique story, but they all share one thing in common — the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream because of consistent support and access to education.
Students who begin their journey at St. Rose of Lima Academy build a strong foundation in their early years. As they move on to primary school and beyond, many continue to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. With the help of dedicated teachers, local leadership, and generous sponsors, our students are able to remain in school, develop confidence, and pursue their goals.
Today, Seeds of Hope Tanzania supports students from pre-primary through secondary school, vocational training, and college. Each success — whether it’s advancing to the next grade, completing primary school, or continuing on to higher education — represents a powerful step toward a more secure and independent future.
Your monthly sponsorship helps provide education, meals, and essential support for a child in Tanzania. Together, we can open doors to
learning and opportunity.
